Routine Maintenance of DS2500

Routine Maintenance of DS2500

1.       Make sure the small cup holder is pinned into the sample presentation unit (pin in notch on the silver ring) so it can’t move

2.       Make sure you put the small cup or Check Sample into the small cup holder so it locks into place and cannot move side to side.

3.       Remove the small cup holder frequently to clean it and clean the glass on the sample presentation unit.

4.       Make sure the instrument has been powered on for 2 hours prior to running instrument diagnostics.

5.       Run Instrument Diagnostics every 3 days as per the reminder displayed in ISIscan NOVA.

6.       Run your Foss Check Sample daily as per the reminder displayed in ISIscan NOVA.

7.       Failing to run the check sample and instrument diagnostics when the reminders pop up will generate many warnings that will be reported in MOSAIC and on the monthly FossAssure reports.  This large number of warnings indicates the DS2500 in not being properly maintained.

8.       Keep cups, cup holders, position and RFID sensors clean and free of product build up.  Product on the cup, holder, sensors, RFID chip and notch in the small cup holder can and will result in errors and block analysis.  Also avoid putting labels or writing on the side of sample cups or holders.

a.       Sample cup cannot find start position

b.       Cannot read RFID chip on sample cup

c.       Measurement was cancelled

9.       If you continue to see a large number of errors related to sample cups and reading RFID chip then contact FOSS Customer Service Engineer for additional troubleshooting.

10.   The filter covering the fan on the back of the instrument should be cleaned every 2-3 days in a very dusty environment and weekly in a normal (lab) setting.

11.   The air vent on the right side of the instrument should be free of obstructions and not too close to a wall or other instruments.

12.   If you continue to have high temperature issues after cleaning the filter:

a.       Remove the back plate and check that the pump is vibrating indicating it is pumping

b.       Check the level of the coolant in the chamber, click or paste the YouTube link for instructions on checking the coolant level https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fumh2K6l7M

c.       Check that the coolant is circulating in the tubing (feel for vibration)

d.       If you need to add new coolant, use a 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and water

13.   If you are getting other errors, indicated by a flashing lightning bolt in the lower left of the results window, that aren’t cause by any of the above mentioned items such as, high or low temperature or high or low voltage, you should contact your FOSS Customer Service Engineer.

14.   If you change a lamp, you must allow a MINIMUM 2 hour warm up followed by running the Instrument Calibration, a regular Instrument Diagnostics and a new Check Sample Definition before you do any new analysis.  Click or paste the YouTube link for instructions on running the DS2500 Instrument Calibration procedure  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2UEk3nmUPc

15.   FOSS recommends that the DS2500 left on 24/7.  If the DS2500 has been shut off for an extended period of time (more than 15 minutes) then you should not run instrument diagnostics right after turning on the DS2500.  Instrument diagnostics will fail due to the changing internal temperature of the DS2500.  You should cancel Instrument Diagnostics and after a 2 hour warmup then run the instrument diagnostics.  By doing this you will avoid reporting false failures on the instrument diagnostics due to the DS2500 warming up and not being at a stable temperature.
